A few more small notes...

Things I would bring for next time (were there to be a next time):
  • couscous (light and tasty)
  • milo sachets
  • mini gaiters (full sand gaiters are really not necessary)
  • gels (not too many and not for all the time: just sometimes you really need a lift!)
  • beans (for breakfast) in a tin (you are not going to carry them anyway).
As for training, I would spend a lot more time running up and down sand dunes!
